They couldn’t ship kit 1 first because the rims hadn’t come in, so they shipped kit 4, one of the rear wheels.

It was a real slog cleaning up the parts: the rim was quite rusty and the spokes were covered in black mill scale (due to laser cutting etc). I spent about 5 hours doing the clean-up, using a combination of sanding flap wheel, wire brush wheel, and wire brush discs.

Assembly took me about 8 hours in total; each comprised three sections of hub, sixteen spokes, and the rim. I had to loosely assemble the wheel, then tighten it all up, then remove the spokes one at a time to glue them.

The tyres were already fitted. I paid extra for the vulcanised type because they’re more robust.

The rear wheels are 66cm diameter and each weigh 41kg!
